Lankshear and Knobel, New Literacies

I came across a couple of lines in this book, New Literacies: Changing Knowledge and Classroom Learning, that might help us describe environments and our curricular and pedagogical approaches.

• “The second point about the environments of the information technology revolution is that they tend toward endless proliferation of information…Amid the exponential growth, far beyond saturation, of publicly avalialble information, it is important that we be able to develop means and strategies for handling it in workable and effective ways” (59).
• “The challenge is how to live in physical space and, to an increasing extent, in cyberspace and the datasphere. A sound education will cater to both, and will do so in informed and principled ways” (66).
